During World War II, toys might have been scarce, but children did get new toys. Since there were a lot of factories were working for the war, there were not a lot of toy factories, so children got new toys when they swapped old toys at toy exchanges. Rubber, plastic, and metal were needed for the war, so there were a lot of paper, card or wood toys. There were also tin toys, but by the end of the war selling tin toys was banned, and many had been burned down to help with the war (Stanley).
